Tekron International founder shortlisted for Innovator Award

Tekron International today announced that Brian Smellie, the company’s founder and a current director, was recently shortlisted for the Manufacturing section of the 2008 Bayer Innovators awards.

Brian is no stranger to being nominated and winning awards, having been the recipient of a number in the past few years. These include:

• 2007 - Tekron International being awarded the Deloitte Fast 50 award for the Fastest growing Manufacturing Business in the Wellington region.
• 2005 – Brian named as Engineering innovator of the year at the New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards.
• 2004 – Tekron International being awarded the Technology Commendation Award at the New Zealand Export Awards dinner.

Commenting on his latest nomination, Brian said: “We operate in an extremely competitive industry, with many of our competitors seemingly having unlimited funds for their product development programmes. At Tekron we have to be constantly innovative to keep ahead of them. I am extremely proud to work with an incredible team of developers; this nomination could not have happened without them.”
